Hi, I’m Luisa!

As a freshman in The Wharton School, and the youngest of three sisters, I have an adventurous spirit that finds joy in a variety of sports, games, and outdoor activities. From the rush of scoring a goal competing in the UNCOLI soccer tournament, playing volleyball at the sun-kissed Santa Marta beaches, to challenging myself on the tennis court or at the water skiing slalom course at the Mesa de Yeguas lake, or pushing my limits on the slopes of Courchevel, these experiences bring me immense joy and a sense of fulfillment.

Aside from sports, I cherish time spent playing board games with my loved ones. Whether it’s sitting for hours with my grandparents playing Bridge and Rummikub while discussing current world affairs, or laughing with friends around Yahtzee or Liar’s dice game, these moments bring me happiness and a feeling of togetherness.

I am incredibly passionate about working with other people and giving back to my community. I have been involved in many social service activities: painting a school in La Guajira, building a home on the outskirts of Bogota, distributing mercados at the Banco de Alimentos, tutoring at-risk kids in La Calera, supporting victims of the armed conflicts, and organizing activities for the staff’s children at school. Each of these experiences has filled me with a sense of purpose.

I love traveling and learning about history and different cultures. I have been amazed at observing cave paintings in San José del Guaviare (a former guerilla-controlled area), talking to native people while navigating through the Amazon River, listening to the historic making of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, learning about the pharaohs at Ramses II Temple of Abu Simbel in Egypt, and discovering the rock-cut façades communicating the iconic monuments of Petra in Jordan. I also love learning about cultures through regional dishes, from Paellas in Spain to Goi Cuon in Vietnam to Escargot in France. 

I enjoy connecting with natural life, be it walking up the mountain with my dog Conga in Tabio, watching an enraged elephant in Tanzania, feeling the energy of a massive whale while scuba diving in the Pacific Ocean, observing the delicate flight of hummingbirds and the landing of migrating ducks in Anapoima, or flying over alligators on a trike ultralight in Casanare.
